  • Afghan soldiers deliver flood relief supplies

    PAKTYA PROVINCE, Afghanistan – Afghans of Jani Kheyl District, Paktya Province unload flood relief supplies provided by the Afghan National Army soldiers of the 203rd Thunder Corps at the Chamkani District Center Sept. 4. The soldiers delivered enough flour, salt, sugar, oil, beans and tea to feed 856 families of seven for one month, according to the standards of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Upon receiving the supplies, one of the village elders expressed loyalty to the Afghan government, saying, “These are our ANA, and nothing can happen to them.” (Afghan National Army courtesy photo)PAKTYA PROVINCE, Afghanistan – Afghan National Army soldiers, acting without U.S. or other coalition involvement, delivered food to flood-affected civilians in Jani Kheyl District, Paktya Province Sept. 3 through 5 in an effort to establish goodwill.

IED attacks not going well for Taliban fighters

GHAZNI, Afghanistan – Afghan National Security Forces and International Security Assistance Force Soldiers from Task Force White Eagle and Brawler killed five Taliban improvised explosive device emplacers Sep. 2 during combat operations in the Andar District of Ghazni Province.

 

An ISAF air weapons team observed the five Taliban fighters emplacing an IED, made a positive identification and engaged them, killing all five.

ISAF, ANSF forces repel attack at bases in Khowst province; kill, capture insurgents

KHOWST PROVINCE, Afghanistan – International Security Assistance Force servicemembers and Afghan National Security Forces repelled complex attacks at two bases in Khowst province, killing 31 insurgents and capturing five Aug. 28.

Insurgents attacked Forward Operating Base Chapman and FOB Salerno with indirect, rocket-propelled grenade and small-arms fire in an early morning assault.
