070909-a-0000x-005.jpgKABUL, Afghanistan (July 9) – Afghan National Army soldiers and Afghan National Police (ANP), along with International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) service members and local citizens in the Mohammad Agha District of Logar Province, Eastern Afghanistan, immediately responded to an explosion that ripped into a crowd, killing at least 24 and injuring an unknown number of Afghan citizens.

Afghan Security Forces along with ISAF service members provided security and aid to the injured.  Many Afghan citizens were also on scene assisting in the recovery effort.

Four members of the ANP and an unknown number of teenage students, who were passing through the area, are among the dead.  The injured were treated at a local medical facility and one ANP official was transported to an ISAF medical centre for treatment.

The incident is under investigation.
