PAKTIKA PROVINCE, Afghanistan – A combined effort with Afghan Police with the 7th Kandak of the 2nd zone of Afghan Border Police and Soldiers with Company C, 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division led to the discovery of a Cache in the Waza Khwa District of Paktika Province, March 9. (U.S. Army Photo)PAKTIKA PROVINCE, Afghanistan – Afghan police with the 7th Kandak of the 2nd zone Afghan Border Police and Soldiers with Company C, 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division discovered and seized a cache in the Waza Khwa district of Paktika Province, March 9.


The cache included seven bolt action rifles, one bag of homemade explosives and two boxes of military equipment.  

“Today was a great success for coalition forces,” said ABP Capt. Sakander, 3rd Company, 7th Kandak ABP commander. “It shows that the enemy exists, but the strength of the (Afghan National Security Forces) does protect the Afghan population.”

This is the second cache found by the Iron Rakkasans in three days in spite of only operating in Paktika Province, Afghanistan for just over a week.  

“Today’s mission ... demonstrates the ability of the ANSF to work together and successfully conduct missions securing the people,” said Capt. Simon Grimm, commander of Co. C, 3rd Bn. 187th Inf. Regt. “The people of Waza Khwa are safer today than they were yesterday because of the hard work and dedication of the ANSF.”
